A community-owned streaming platform for films from Maui and the Hawaiian Islands. Built on Maui by Akakū Maui Community Media. Premiering at sunset on summer solstice — June 21, 2026.

Films by filmmakers based in Hawaiʻi. The platform is built around the place — its stories, its people, its responsibility to itself. Hawaiian residency is verified through Stripe.
Every film here was approved by a person who watched it. No algorithm decides what belongs. The curatorial team is small on purpose — invited, named, accountable.
Of every rental, 70% routes directly to the filmmaker's bank at the moment of the transaction — not held back for monthly settlement. The remaining 30% supports Akakū and covers payment processing.
June 18–21, 2026 — Wailuku, Maui.
Maui Stream opens to the public on the festival's closing night. After the lights come up in Wailuku, the films and filmmakers find their way to a permanent streaming home — built by Akakū, run by the community, designed to last.

Maui Stream is built and operated by Akakū Maui Community Media — Maui's nonprofit community media organization since 1991.
